Overview

Machines enable us to conquer space and explore our earth. They secure food and energy and make us flexible. Mechanical engineers develop solutions for a wide range of wishes and requirements. From the first customer contact through development, production and commissioning to sales and maintenance, it is engineers who find creative solutions for demanding requirements.

In research projects they develop innovative solution strategies for new technologies. In a world with increasing demand for resources, they ensure environmentally friendly and competitive products and thus contribute to the future viability of our society. Regardless of their chosen specialization, the graduates are able to develop components, assemblies and machines / systems as well as processes and to implement them in theory and practice.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

In the modular course, all modules are checked promptly. The contents of the lectures, seminars and internships are supplemented by practical events. At the beginning of their studies, students get to know a wide variety of mechanical engineering occupations and can thus find a choice of specialization that corresponds to their inclinations. In addition to imparting basic knowledge, emphasis is placed on working on projects in a team. In the third and fifth semesters, projects (subtasks from research or industrial projects) are worked on independently in small groups.

For an individual orientation, the students can choose four subjects from the other specializations or from the entire range of the department according to their interests. The course concludes with a practical phase. Here, with the in-depth knowledge, the professional field of the engineer is again familiarized with and independently tested. A subsequent bachelor thesis completes the course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Abitur or advanced technical college entrance qualification or previous training recognized as equivalent and proof of practical work lasting ten weeks (pre-study internship). Evidence must be provided by the beginning of the fourth semester at the latest. However, it is recommended that you complete the pre-study internship before starting your studies. Details can be found in the examination regulations.
