Overview

Infrastructure engineers are able to technically and economically plan, implement and operate projects for road, rail and waterways as well as water and energy supply. You have the knowledge required to plan infrastructure. In operation, they can organize and plan and monitor necessary renovations. They have mastered the relevant project management methods to carry out the measures. Logistics skills enable them to integrate user-oriented requirements into these activities.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The course begins in the winter semester. The standard period of study is six semesters. The course contents convey in a compact form a broad technical basic knowledge in the construction and operation of traffic and infrastructure systems. In the first three semesters, in addition to basic technical knowledge, languages, law and key qualifications (social, methodological and personal skills) are taught. From the fourth semester, the focus is on specialist knowledge in infrastructure and logistics subjects, which is supplemented by an extensive, in-depth catalog of elections. A practical phase and the preparation of the bachelor thesis conclude the course in the sixth semester.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Abitur or advanced technical college entrance qualification or previous education recognized as equivalent. Evidence of practical construction work through an internship of three months, which usually has to be carried out before the start of the course. Of the three months, at least six weeks should be completed before the start of the course and verified at the start of the course.

CAREER PROSPCETS

Infrastructure is an important part of the basic equipment of an economy. These include the transport networks (road, rail and waterways) as well as supply and disposal networks.

Infrastructure engineers work for public developers, operating companies and utility companies. In addition, planning offices and construction companies offer jobs for graduates. You will work on infrastructure projects that require extensive knowledge of the subjects taught in the course.
