Electrical engineering is an important foundation in the modern technical world and a key competence for solving current problems in our environment.
Systems for electrical drives and energy supply are on everyone's lips, as are new mobile radio technologies and the expansion of fiber optic infrastructure. "Green technology" has long since found its way into various areas of application in which only the environmentally friendly and resource-saving use of electrical energy can guarantee future security.
Our motto “Study the future” is lived by the lecturers. The curriculum is designed in cooperation with local and national companies. In this way, future graduates are ideally prepared for their career start in a market-oriented manner.
The electrical engineering course is characterized by a wide range of content and the possibility of individual design of the course. After basic electrical engineering training over the first three semesters, students can choose one of the three main areas of interest, depending on their interests.
From the 4th semester onwards, the modules are only offered annually. Completing the course within the standard period of study requires a course beginning in the winter semester for the main areas of communication technology and energy and drive systems, and for the main area of ??electronic systems in the summer semester.
The course has a high practical relevance, which is produced by a large number of laboratory exercises that are carried out in groups of a maximum of 22 students. All lectures take place in small groups and in seminar classes, so that individual supervision is possible.
Creativity, the ability to work in a team and independent work are encouraged during the course. However, you should have one prerequisite - curiosity about technology.

Smartphones and the Internet are a matter of course today. New developments, such as broadband expansion using fiber optics and LTE / 5G mobile communications, smart cities, innovative mobility concepts and autonomous driving, are currently shaping the public debate. In the age of digitization, communication technology forms the technological basis for a networked world.
Due to the increasing importance of networking, students studying communication technology lay the foundation for an exciting and future-proof job, with a wide range of possible applications. Areas of work are, for example, the development and optimization of mobile radio systems and the expansion of fiber optic infrastructure, in the area of ??networking vehicles (Car-to-X) and machines (Industry 4.0), in radio and television and the creation of new media technologies, in medical technology as well as in home automation (Smart Home) and the construction of intelligent power networks (Smart Grids).
In the design of the communication technology major, great importance was attached to a good structure and studyability. In modern laboratories, all seminars are supplemented by practical exercises so that the course is always practical and clear. A wide range of elective options gives you the opportunity to specialize more in detail areas of communication networks as well as audio and video technology, depending on your interests.
When arranging internships and bachelor theses, students benefit from the professors' good contacts with network operators, industry and research. There is also the option of supplementing the bachelor's degree in communications technology with a master's degree (Information and Communications Engineering) that is optimally suited to the content.
Abitur graduates or applicants with a technical college entrance qualification are prepared for the qualification as electronics technician for industrial engineering in their training company as well as in the upper level center TIEM in two or two and a half years of training.
At the same time, they complete the first three semesters of the electrical engineering bachelor's degree with the training and the bridging modules accompanying the training (distance learning).
After completing their vocational training, students start their fourth semester in the two-year academic course of the electrical engineering bachelor's degree directly at the Beuth University.
Lecture-free times are used for practical phases in the company.
