Overview

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The Computer Science for Digital Media course consists of lectures, exercises, seminars, two extensive research projects and the final master's thesis. During the first and third semester, the students conduct two research projects (15 ECTS each) in small groups of 3 to 6 people, which they can choose from the wide range of professorships.

An extensive elective module (24 ECTS) extends over the second and third semesters and enables students to deepen or broaden their knowledge of computer science, mathematics or other areas of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The third semester is also ideal for a stay abroad, as it is particularly flexible with regard to the curriculum. The fourth and last semester is intended for the preparation of the master’s thesis, which can be selected thematically from the offers of the various professorships.

The standard period of study for the Master’s degree in Computer Science for Digital Media is four semesters. After successfully defending the master’s thesis, the Faculty of Media awards the degree Master of Science. All master’s courses are held in English. The course is consecutive for all computer science-related bachelor courses, such as computer science, media informatics, media technology as well as mathematics, physics and electrical engineering with a focus on computer science.
