Creating art, designing media, dare to experiment - with an open eye for the present and future-oriented, that is the philosophy of the media art / media design course at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Organizational and technical knowledge is conveyed as well as creative and analytical-critical competence: the focus is on linking very different areas. And all of this is a basic requirement for a later, creative activity in the broad field of media - whether in a permanent position or in independent work. The primary goal is to train design personalities who enrich everyday life and the media world artistically and practically with their knowledge and creativity, and even have a say in them.
In the first to third semester, there is one artistic design project module, two specialist modules from the range of media art / media design courses, one academic module from the media faculty and three free modules as part of the course. The master's thesis is planned for the fourth semester. Partial studies abroad are recommended, especially if you did not complete a semester abroad during your bachelor’s degree. The faculty offers numerous well-known partners worldwide for this purpose.
The standard period of study for the Master’s degree in Media Art / Media Design is two semesters. After completing and defending the master’s thesis, the Faculty of Art and Design awards the academic degree “Master of Fine Arts”.
