Overview

In order to develop innovative action and design models for a wide range of different tasks, the mastery of concept-based, artistic and creative approaches is just as important as the application of theoretical, scientific and technical knowledge. In a rapidly changing world, flexible and responsible action is of particular importance.

The ability to think methodically and independently, the ability to criticize (including oneself) and the understanding of communicative, media processes and their aesthetic, social and ecological function are prerequisites for this. The described teaching method of the »interdisciplinary project study« enables, encourages, and even requires this way of thinking.

Our students and alumni design magazines, catalogs, fonts, guidance systems, websites, they take photos, produce books, films, commercials, television graphics, posters and postcards. From logo design to complex corporate design for cultural institutions, industry and trade, entertainment industry and advertising, they use visual strategies to create a convincing appearance. The most significant skill they offer, however, is their ability to communicate specific messages through skillful control of writing, text and image, systems and structures. Your work promotes, educates, informs, reveals, clarifies, optimizes and delights.

After a standard study period of 8 semesters, the first qualifying degree that can be obtained is the “Bachelor of Arts” degree. 

In the subsequent master’s program, transferable skills for the design professions of visual communication are to be developed within 2 semesters, which focus on problems and issues of visual cultures.
