Overview

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

In the basic course, the professors present the most important media and cultural theories to you in a lecture series. You will learn to analyze texts, the basics of media economics and view films that you will then discuss - and for that you go to the cinema regularly . You will also think outside the box and take modules from media informatics or media art / media design. The basic course provides you with the methodological and content-related basics as well as an initial orientation for your further studies.

You then have the choice between courses and projects in the fields of media studies, cultural studies and media economics. In line with the Bauhaus tradition, the faculty offers project studies: A combined format of lectures and seminars in small groups that enables you to study in-depth with a focus on content. You can choose from the range of our professorships and design your own schedule.

The media culture course in Weimar also provides for a compulsory internship of 12 weeks, which should be completed between the third and sixth semester. Work abroad can also be taken into account as long as it is in a subject area relevant to the course.

In general, the Faculty of Media supports its students at all times in gaining experience abroad during their studies. You can find information on the various partner universities of the Bachelor's degree in Media Culture here .

The sixth semester is reserved for writing your thesis. We don't give you a topic: You choose the question and your supervisor yourself. You can find some examples of theses from the last few years here . The study and examination regulations regulate further information on the formalities of the studies .
