The subject of Jewish studies is the language (s), religion, history and culture of the Jews from antiquity to the present in their independent traits as well as in relation to their respective non-Jewish environment. Knowledge of the Hebrew language is essential.

In the foreground of the bachelor's degree is an introduction to the basics of the science of Judaism and the teaching of the Hebrew language (biblical and modern Hebrew). In the second and third year of study you can choose from modules that deal with reading rabbinical and medieval literature, the relationship between majority culture and minority culture, phenomena and conditions of tradition and change in Judaism, questions of Jewish identity in the area of ??tension between unity and diversity, as well as state and society in Dedicated to Israel. In the master’s course, the study is scientifically deepened in the areas of Jewish / Hebrew literature, the history, religious and intellectual history of Judaism. 


Admission requirements for the bachelor's degree in Jewish Studies (KF and EF) are general or subject-specific higher education entrance qualifications.


Possible occupational fields for graduates of the bachelor's degree are seen in particular in the area of ??knowledge transfer, in the area of ??journalism, in libraries, archives, museums and documentation centers, in public relations and education management.
