The aim of the Global History master’s course is to historically reconstruct the history of global interdependencies and globally effective processes. The focus is on the connection of the historical sciences with the specific competencies of the regional sciences. The aim is not primarily to convey a macro-perspective of global history; Instead, it enables students to acquire in-depth knowledge of the culture, society and language of a region and, at the same time, to classify its history in globally effective structures, exchange relationships and perspectives.

To be admitted to the master’s degree, applicants must demonstrate the following requirements:

  • Above-average bachelor's degree in history, regional studies or a course of study in which at least 60 credit points were achieved in the fields of history or regional studies.

  • The Global History master’s program is an English-language master’s program. Applicants must provide evidence of English language skills at level C1 (GER).
