Art history with a focus on East Asia includes the art and culture of China, Japan and Korea. Objects of East Asian art history are in particular painting, writing, sculpture, architecture, garden art, graphics and applied arts from the Neolithic to modern times. The knowledge of these most important subject areas is conveyed through overall presentations as well as through epoch and genre themes, but also through systematic approaches. The course also includes teaching scientific methods such as form analysis, style criticism, iconography and iconology, source and text studies and reception research.

Program Structure

As a 30 CP module offer, East Asian Art History is combined with a suitable 120 CP core subject or a 90 CP core subject and a further 30 CP module offer.

The course regulations regulate the structure and process of the course. It contains detailed descriptions of the content and qualification goals of each individual module and an exemplary course plan. The examination regulations define the type and requirements of the module examination. In the regulations, the credit points (CP) for each module or event as well as the workload in hours for the entire course are specified.
