Applied socio-educational research asks how successful educational processes can be initiated and designed against the background of social structures in a global context . It is transdisciplinary . In addition to subject-specific pedagogical, sociological and management-related approaches, historical and philosophical perspectives are particularly important.

This master’s course acts as an interface between a professional orientation and academic qualification. It aims to deepen knowledge of research methodology in order to be able to carry out application- related practical research independently and in a technically sound manner.

The ability to take on a research perspective and the resulting increased ability to reflect on the subject strengthens the overall professional ability to act in the respective occupational fields.

After completing the master’s degree, you can work in areas of formal, non-formal and informal education , depending on the focus of the previous bachelor’s degree . For example:

  • in all professional fields of childhood education
  • in all professional fields of social work
  • in all professional fields of curative education
  • in the school sector in inclusive settings
  • in training and further education institutions of adult education
  • in leisure education
  • in extracurricular education and care
  • in the areas of media culture mediation and media advice
  • in education planning as well as in education management

The course offers opportunities to connect to university-oriented educational courses. After completing a doctorate, educational researchers work in research and teaching at technical colleges, universities and public and private research institutions.
