Cologne is ideal as a location for a master’s degree in market and media research. The city certainly lives up to its reputation as the media capital, but a number of well-known companies have also settled in the field of market research. The number of start-ups is still increasing. In addition, there are additional location advantages such as the central location, optimal transport connections, the high quality of life and the synergetic cooperation of broadcasters, media houses, service providers, software companies and free creative people.


The course combines teaching and research with a close connection to practice, which is integrated from the start through project-based teaching and learning. As early as the 2nd semester, the projects are independently managed and controlled by the students. At the same time, the students are encouraged to reflect critically, since in the area of ??data-driven innovations or through applications in the area of ??big data and artificial intelligence, ethical questions as well as data protection law arise. In the third semester, students can choose between different fields of application and concentrate the basis laid in the first year of study on specific topics (e.g. advertising impact research, data science, usage measurement, customer satisfaction, employee surveys or company market research).
