The bachelor's degree in business administration is a first professional university degree. As part of the course, you will learn to solve problems in business practice independently on the basis of scientific knowledge and methods. The practice-oriented orientation of all events enables you, on the basis of a scientifically sound education, to successfully start your career as a specialist and manager in a manageable period of study. There is no such thing as a “rigid” job description. Those interested can complete a four-semester master’s degree after successfully completing a bachelor’s degree, which is also offered at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences.

The course alternates between 13 weeks between theoretical learning at the university and operational practice in the company. The teaching is largely provided in the form of seminar-like lessons and exercises in contact lessons. The lecture-free time in the theory phase is used for preparation and follow-up work for the lesson. As part of the regular practice modules, theoretical knowledge and business practice are linked: through practical activities with a business management reference or in specific business management projects that are concluded with a scientific term paper. Company-specific topics and contents can be worked on in order to prepare the students for the special tasks in operational practice. In the fifth to seventh semester, individual emphases can be set in the compulsory elective modules. The course ends with the bachelor thesis in the seventh semester.

The concept of practice-integrated studies requires a close link between practical work and university studies. The prerequisite for admission is therefore a practical activity accompanying the course, in an internship, at work or as part of commercial training. As a result, the students grow into the company right from the start and can combine academic training with professional practice. The aim is to apply the knowledge learned in theory in practice and vice versa. Personally, a high level of motivation is required in order to be able to successfully complete the double requirement of practical and theoretical work.

Graduates of the bachelor's degree program take on demanding tasks as managers or specialists in private or public companies, authorities and organizations or are self-employed in freelance professions. You will find your fields of work in sales, marketing, finance and accounting, controlling, organization and data processing, personnel management, social and training systems, logistics, auditing and tax consulting.
