Overview

The master’s program lasts three semesters and is divided into modules. Proof of achievement must be provided in all modules during the course of study.

In addition to the basics of modeling and system simulation, the first two semesters of study simultaneously impart in-depth engineering, business and social science knowledge. There is a focus on strategic areas of responsibility in companies and on topics that are of particular importance for an increasingly cross-company and international cooperation.

A total of four compulsory elective modules give you the opportunity to deepen your skills according to your own inclinations.

The courses are held in small groups according to the seminar principle: lecture and discussion alternate in a pedagogically sensible way. Exercises serve to deepen the subject matter and convey practical methods and process engineering.

The third semester includes the final examination and the Studium Generale with a range of socio-political and social specialist content as well as foreign languages. The final examination consists of the preparation of a theoretical or practical thesis, an accompanying final seminar and a colloquium.

PRACTICAL RELEVANCE

The high level of practical relevance in the industrial engineering / mechanical engineering course is achieved through practical application-oriented teaching of the learning material and in the form of seminars, practical exercises and the preparation of a thesis based on a practical problem.

The graduates prove that they can work on a practical task through the targeted use of scientific methods and procedures and complete them on time.

 

RESEARCH 

Cooperation projects and business-related transfer activities guarantee an innovative research culture that provides decisive impulses for practice-oriented and successful teaching at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin.

The cooperation with international research institutions and partners from the economy ensures the transnational competitiveness of research.

Research in all relevant research fields from economics and social sciences as well as from mechanical engineering is carried out in the primarily involved Faculties I and VIII of the Beuth University of Applied Sciences.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The accredited master's degree in industrial engineering / mechanical engineering builds on the content of the bachelor's degree in industrial engineering / mechanical engineering.

The degree enables graduates to take on leading positions in companies that operate in international markets and require highly qualified management staff for this.

The aim of the course is an intensive deepening of knowledge and an expansion of application-related research, development, planning and implementation skills as well as the clear development of skills for management tasks. This creates the best prerequisites for a highly qualified and inclined entry into professional positions with high development potential.

The graduates have access to a wide range of fields of activity in responsible and managerial positions in industry, trade and service companies. The greatest demand comes from companies in the automotive, supplier and electrotechnical industries, transport, logistics and consulting.

In trade and industry, most industrial engineers work in the areas of purchasing / materials management / logistics, in sales and marketing, in controlling and in manufacturing / production.

Managers for holistic process chains, so-called supply chain managers, are particularly sought after. In service companies, graduates in industrial engineering will also find interesting fields of activity, for example as management consultants or project managers.
