Mechatronic engineers invent new devices and thus shape the world of tomorrow. Our technical environment is changing at breakneck speed, in communication, health care or the movement of people and goods.

New opportunities are emerging everywhere. These are based on the fact that engineers have mastered several specialist areas. By bringing together information technology, electronics and construction, they create something new. This is the era of mechatronics, which unites the engineering principles of various disciplines.

In the first semesters of the bachelor's degree in mechatronics, the basics such as mathematics, physics and materials science are dealt with. Construction (CAD) is taught in several semesters in the subject of mechanical design. Electrical engineering and electronics also extend over four semesters. Production methods and processes are dealt with right from the start of the course, because without precise knowledge of the technical and economic implementation, no successful product can be created.

During the course of study, there is a laboratory exercise in parallel to many of the lectures. As part of this exercise, the content is deepened and practically experienced. Industry really values ??this practical relevance of our graduates.

As part of elective courses in the 5th and 6th semester, you can deepen your knowledge in one direction: on the one hand in the area of ??development / device construction, on the other hand in the direction of production technology / quality management.

Mechatronics is the interdisciplinary interaction of mechanics, magneto-opto-electronics and computer science. Mechatronics uses sensors, microcomputers, actuators and other functional technologies to create innovative products for technology, business and society.

By applying mechatronic-system-technical methods, technical products with cost and performance advantages are developed and new systems are created.

Mechatronic systems work in all areas of technology, e.g. B. in industrial robots, in audio and video technology or in machine tools. They control and regulate central functions in automotive technology as well as in automation technology for device, machine and system optimization.

Mechatronics engineers have technically interesting, economically significant and promising tasks that range from microtechnology to medical technology:

  • in product development - as a designer or development engineer
  • in production - as a production engineer, work planner or work planner
  • in sales - as a sales or service engineer

Management and teamwork skills are qualities that, in connection with personality development, are in great demand when looking for new solutions for new applications in industry.

The prerequisites are a healthy dose of curiosity, interest in modern technology and enjoyment of creative work. Women in particular are welcome in the development teams for optimal problem solving. One reason is the proven ability of women to work in a team. You often work more determined and more efficient and creative in a group.

The mechatronics engineers have an overview, they think holistically in large contexts and oversee the processes from the product idea to production and quality management to sales.
