Overview

If you want to develop and change things, you have to understand them. The course Green Engineering - Process Engineering enables you to do this with a combination of basic scientific and technical knowledge, process engineering core knowledge and tools with which you can evaluate processes with regard to future compatibility. During your studies, you will practice working in a team, working on projects and presenting results orally and in writing.

In seminars, test facilities and computer exercises, you will deal with, among other things

  • Basics of thermal, mechanical, chemical and biological process engineering,
  • Sustainability, use of recyclable materials, energy efficiency
  • Simulation tools,
  • Transport processes,
  • Technology assessment and
  • Project management.

In compulsory elective modules, you can set a course focus and, in the “Studium Generale”, look beyond the box and attend events outside of your subject area,
including languages.

The degree is completed by the practical phase and the bachelor thesis. Both usually take place outside the university.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Wastewater treatment, fertilizer production and coffee roasting - these are examples of thousands of processes that are necessary for our everyday life and our environment. What they have in common is that substances are obtained, converted or eliminated in them.

Such processes and the associated systems are developed and supervised by process engineers. This is an enormous challenge that requires technical knowledge and knowledge of the interdependence of processes, people and the environment. Taking on this challenge opens up exciting career prospects. In order to be able to cope with this task, you will learn a lot about the structure in the process chain of the associated apparatus and systems in the course “Green Engineering - Process Engineering”. You will also understand which process requirements must be observed so that they do not endanger our environment.

Your later job will be in an industrial company or in an engineering office, in municipal companies, in trade or in an authority. During your studies, you can get to know possible jobs on excursions, as a student trainee or during your practical phase. This is how you find out what interests you most.

You can of course also pursue your own ideas and found a start-up company after graduation. The Beuth University supports you in all matters relating to founding a company. In Berlin you will find an ideal location for innovative business ideas.

Or you decide on an in-depth master’s degree in order to subsequently help new ideas to be technically implemented in research and development.
