The Master’s degree in Natural Hazards and Risks in Structural Engineering (NHRE) is a strongly internationally oriented degree program that trains students to be able to carry out demanding engineering work under specific external influences, such as earthquakes. To this end, we provide modern aids with which dangers from natural events can be assessed, enable modeling and simulation and prepare to carry out specific risk analyzes. The course offers key qualifications for innovative and pioneering engineering work in the areas of the various natural hazards earthquakes, floods and storms.

The minimum qualification of admission to this program is normally a “Bachelor of Science” degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent professional qualification with a final grade of 2.5  (acc. To German system) or better. The Examination Committee must ensure that the candidate's prior degree is equivalent to that of the B.Sc. programs in civil engineering. If not, the Examination Committee may attach additional conditions for admission, which the candidate must meet. In such cases, candidates are not legally entitled to gaining admission to the program.
